WHO CONTROLS THE ASSOCIATION?
Glen Housing Association is headed by a Committee of Management who are elected by the members of the Association. (See “Membership of the Association” below). The members of this Committee are unpaid volunteers. They are responsible for setting the organisation's policies, aims and objectives. The day-to-day work of the Association is undertaken by the staff who are in turn responsible to the Committee of Management. MEMBERSHIP OF THE ASSOCIATION Membership is open to all tenants and indeed, anyone over the age of 16 with an interest in the Association, at a cost of £1. Members have the opportunity to attend and vote at our Annual General Meeting and can stand for election to the Committee of Management. If your ambitions do not stretch that far you can always use your membership to vote for others who wish to be elected or re-elected to the Committee. COMMITTEE STRUCTURE Who can join the Committee of Management? Any tenant of the Association, or anyone who has a genuine interest in the Association itself can have the opportunity to become a member of the Committee of Management which sets the policies, aims and objectives of the organisation. The Association seeks to ensure that its membership reflects the communities it serves and that all sections of the community are represented. Membership is open to all sections of the community regardless of colour, race, nationality, ethnic or national origins, gender, disability, age or sexuality. To this end the Association particularly welcomes applications from: * Black and ethnic minority community members * Individuals who have experience of disability * Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Transgender community members * 18 - 25 year olds * Any others who are under represented What does it involve? Committee members give their time on a voluntary, unpaid basis and do not necessarily require to have any special skills to be involved. You will need to be a member of the Association which costs £1 for a single share and gives the member the right to vote at General Meetings of the Association and to stand for election to the Management Committee. Frequency of meetings The full Committee of Management meet every month. In addition, four sub-committees operate: Housing Management Development Health & Safety Audit The first two sub-committees generally meet monthly and the last two generally meet twice yearly. They look at the different areas of work in which we are involved in greater detail and make recommendations to the Committee of Management. Members can choose how much time they wish to commit and are able to get as much support and training as they need to help them contribute. Interested in joining and finding out more? If you are interested in finding more about joining the Management Committee, just contact the Association and give your name, address and telephone number to a member of staff. You will then be contacted by the Director who will give you the necessary information to help you decide if you wish to apply. |

APPLYING FOR A HOUSE
Your present home may not be suitable, or you may believe that it will become unsuitable in the future. You may not be in a position to buy and you are looking for a rented home.
In Fife, more people need homes than there are available to rent. This means that we have to keep lists and have policies to help decide who is offered housing (see Downloads section for copy of our Allocation Policy). Glen Housing Association is a partner in the Fife Housing Register along with Fife Council, Ore Valley Housing Association, Fife Housing Association and Kingdom Housing Association. This partnership makes it possible for you to fill in one application form giving your circumstances and preferences to be considered by all the partners who have homes in the parts of Fife you want to live. For an application form or further information, please contact us on 01592 621188 or info@glenhousing.co.uk. Alternatively, you can contact any of the abovementioned Housing Associations or any Fife Council Local Service Centre. |
